Natural childbirth with hypnosis

Natural Childbirth with Hypnosis

Natural Childbirth with Hypnosis addresses the issue of childbirth from several basic directions.

  • Addressing and removing inaccurate beliefs that condition a fear of childbirth and the expected "pain"

  • Reducing the sensation of discomfort by teaching hypnotic analgesia

  • Creating and reinforcing post-hypnotic triggers to keep the mother's mind and body focused and relaxed

  • Creating post-hypnotic triggers for learned muscle responses to further support the birth process

These four basic areas of focus are all issues with which professional hypnosis provides excellent results.  It is only a small step to combine these processes for healthy natural childbirth.

When using hypnosis for natural childbirth:

Expect yourself to be

  • Free from the effects of medications

  • Free from the threat of drug side-effects

  • More alert and able to interact with your baby

  • More relaxed and calm

  • Able to reduce your level of discomfort

  • Shorter labor – less tired, able to spend time with the newborn soon after birth.

Expect your baby to be

  • More alert and calm

  • Free from the threat of bad drug side-effects

  • Achieve higher APGAR scores

  • Shorter labor – so more relaxed and calm when born

  • Born free from the effects of medications

  • Studies show babies born naturally are able to breastfeed more quickly and successfully

Epidural Complications:

It is generally believed that the risks associated with an epidural are not accurately explained to the mother before acceptance.  One study from 1997 shows a complication rate of 23%.  (Kantor G. Obstetrical epidural anesthesia in a rural Canadian hospital. Can J Anaesth 1992; 39:390-3) Because there are very few studies involving epidural use during childbirth, It is not easy to argue against this finding.

Hypnosis has been used for natural childbirth for many years.  Most popularly in the form of HypnoBirthing.  HypnoBirthing still using the techniques formed in 1989.  There are now much more advanced hypnosis techniques available to the expectant mother.

Natural Childbirth with Hypnosis Program

The program consists of five individual sessions that progressively teach the tools to assist with the natural childbirth process.  This program includes 6 specific, easy-to-use self-hypnosis CD's and the book "Raising your Kids with Hypnosis", by Don Mottin.  One CD to use during the birth.

Session One: two hours to teach hypnosis, self-hypnosis and address any behavioral fear and/or anxiousness.

Session Two: one and a half hours to reinforce session one as well as adding level one analgesia  and skillful visualization of a healthy birthing process.

Session Three: one and a half hours to reinforce session one and two and add level 2 analgesia

Session Four: one hour to reinforce previous sessions and train your partner to assist with your self-hypnosis triggers

Session Five: one hour to reinforce previous sessions, strengthen depth of hypnosis, and depth of analgesia.
