Stress Management
While stress is
something all of us talk about, a definition of stress is not very
clear. There are many definitions around, and a useful one is: "Stress is any change to which you must adjust".
Stress can be created
from fear, anger, frustration, being sad, feeling helpless,
traumatic events, etc.. Stress can be experienced in these ways,
as well as PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), anxiety and
depression.
Stress is shown to be indirectly linked to such things as insomnia,
hypertension (high blood pressure), depression, anger, anxiety,
smoking, weight gain or weight loss, alcoholism and other
substance abuse, gastrointestinal problems, arthritis, and skin
breakouts.
Stress can reduce the effectiveness of our immune system. This can
increase the risk of cancer, infections, the common cold, and NK
cell function. (Morikawa et al., 2005; Kiank et al., 2005; Saul
et al., 2005). Stress is linked to all leading causes of death,
including cancer, heart disease, lung diseases, accidents,
cirrhosis, and even suicide.
Hypnosis has an immediate effect on current stress levels evident by
reductions in blood pressure, breathing rate, and pulse
Hypnotherapy can go further toward long-term stress management with
behavior modification and teaching effective self-hypnosis
techniques.
It is evident stress management and stress reduction can prevent many
problems. And, prevention is far less costly, and far easier, than
the alternatives.
Stress can be triggered from public
speaking, school tests, social situations, family, finances,
etc.. Sometimes the stress we feel is reasonable.
Sometimes not. If the stress feels unmanageable, then some
outside help may be what is needed.
Behavior modification for stress
management addresses the unique situations that trigger a high
stress response. These responses often have much more
to do with past experience than the current situation. Teaching realistic stress management
tools helps deal with any remaining situational stress.
Stress experienced as medically diagnosed
issues like PTSD, anxiety and depression, has a rapid and
significant improvement with advanced hypnosis techniques.
Once a person experiences an improvement in behavioral stress,
it is very easy to stabilize the modified behavior. This
has made stress reduction enjoy the highest success rate of all
issues brought to my office. I actually like working with
these issues. The success rate is so high, the improvement
is so significant and easy for the client to sustain.
These strong emotional problems can create
negative thought patterns making a person feel terrible.
Many people will carry this burden for a large portion of their
life before looking for help. And, some never look for
help.
